IFR 1200/500 Woo Test

What? somehow  work has to be a little fun right? Well, back in the early 90’s I worked in the service department at IFR on the all night shift. Ah! what a great job, no real bosses or upper management, just a bunch of night owl nerds playing with electronics. There were probably a dozen of us back in those days and we were always coming up with ideas to entertain ourselves at the facility. At lunch , appx 3AM or so, we would go outside and play frisbee golf with our standard frisbees with blinking LEDS modified inside the frisbee. We had a complete 18 hole golf course on the IFR premises. Well anyway, a contest broke out to see who could do the unusual with a 1200. We had one guy actually broadcast television images across the CRT. I thought my contribution of programming Black Sabbaths song ‘Iron Man’ via the tone generator was at least going to get honorable mention. Nope, the winner was Dave Harder (unfortunately no longer with us)  who invented the ‘Woo Test’ and you will find out why it acquired this name. This test was also in the final test phases before a unit was shipped from the service department soon afterwards.
